Honor Magic 8 Pro could launch in Europe with a smaller battery, but still a big upgrade over last year
Honor’s latest flagship, the Magic 8 Pro, arrived in China last month packing top-tier hardware and an eye-catching camera setup. As the phone prepares for its international rollout, reports suggest the European version may ship with a smaller battery than the Chinese and other global variants.
In China, the Magic 8 Pro features a huge 7,200 mAh battery, while the broader global model is said to carry a 7,100 mAh unit. The European model, however, is reportedly set to use a 6,270 mAh battery—roughly 13% smaller than the Chinese variant. Even so, that’s still a substantial leap over the Magic 7 Pro’s 5,270 mAh capacity in Europe, signaling longer battery life than last year’s model.
Charging details for the EU version haven’t been confirmed. For reference, the Chinese edition supports 120W wired fast charging and 80W wireless charging, so European buyers will want to watch for official specs to see how fast the local variant refuels.
Battery aside, the rest of the package is expected to mirror the Chinese release. The Magic 8 Pro sports a 6.71-inch OLED display with a 1256 x 2808 resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Photography is a major focus, with a triple rear camera system led by a 50MP main sensor, a 200MP periscope telephoto lens for long-range zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. A 50MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.
Under the hood, the phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the same class of flagship chipset found in the latest top-tier Android phones, promising powerful performance for gaming, multitasking, and AI features. In China, the Magic 8 Pro starts at CNY 5,699 (around $801), competing directly with devices like the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Vivo X300 Pro, and Oppo Find X9 Pro.
Key takeaways for European buyers:
– Expect a 6,270 mAh battery, smaller than the Chinese and global variants but larger than last year’s EU model.
– Charging specs for Europe are still unconfirmed; the Chinese model offers 120W wired and 80W wireless charging.
– Display, chipset, and camera hardware should remain the same, including the 6.71-inch 120Hz OLED and 200MP periscope telephoto lens.
If all other specs hold, the Honor Magic 8 Pro should still deliver standout battery life, serious camera versatility, and flagship performance—even with a reduced battery capacity in the EU. Keep an eye on official European listings for final details on charging speeds and availability.
