Hisense A10 could be the next E Ink Android smartphone with a larger 7-inch display
Hisense may be preparing to introduce a new E Ink smartphone that could succeed the Hisense A9, one of the more unusual Android phones to feature an electronic paper display. The rumored device is expected to launch as the Hisense A10, and early leaks suggest it may bring a bigger screen, improved battery life, and updated connectivity features.
The Hisense A9 originally arrived in 2022 as an Android smartphone built around an E Ink display instead of a traditional LCD or OLED panel. Its paper-like screen made it appealing to users who wanted a phone that was easier on the eyes, better for reading, and more power-efficient than conventional smartphones. A later version of the A9 added more memory and storage, but it was not considered a full next-generation model.
Now, the Hisense A10 appears to be the real follow-up.
According to leaked details, the Hisense A10 may feature a 7-inch Carta 1300 E Ink display with a pixel density of 300 PPI. That would make it larger and potentially sharper than the Hisense A9, which used a 6.1-inch Carta 1200 E Ink screen. If accurate, this upgrade could make the A10 more comfortable for reading ebooks, browsing articles, checking documents, and using apps that benefit from a larger monochrome display.
The rumored specifications also mention 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. These figures would place the phone in a practical range for everyday Android use, especially for users who rely on reading apps, messaging, email, note-taking, and light web browsing.
One detail from the leak, however, raises questions. The Hisense A10 is said to use an unnamed quad-core processor with Cortex-A35 cores. That would be surprising, because the older Hisense A9 used the Snapdragon 662, an octa-core chip with stronger Cortex-A73 and Cortex-A53 CPU cores. A move to a much weaker quad-core processor would be unusual for a successor, so this part of the leak may be inaccurate or based on incomplete information.
Other rumored features include dual-SIM support, 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 5.1, and a 4,500mAh battery. The battery would be larger than the 4,000mAh unit found in the Hisense A9, which could help the A10 deliver excellent endurance, especially with the low-power nature of E Ink technology.
The device is also said to include a camera capable of recording 4K video with HDR support. That would be a notable feature for an E Ink smartphone, although camera performance is unlikely to be the main selling point for this type of device. Most buyers interested in a phone like the Hisense A10 are likely looking for long battery life, reduced eye strain, and a reading-focused mobile experience.
At the moment, Hisense has not officially confirmed the A10 or shared any specifications. Because of that, all current details should be treated as unconfirmed. There is also no confirmed information about which version of Android the phone might run.
Previous rumors have suggested that the Hisense A10 could be released around mid-2026. If that timeline is accurate, more official information may appear in the coming months.
