NVIDIA is set to launch its GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 graphics card on August 12th, ushering in the next level of flagship Blackwell gaming exclusively in China. This new variant is designed to comply with US export regulations.
Scheduled for a 9 PM release, the RTX 5090 D V2 replaces its predecessor, the RTX 5090 D. While the price remains undisclosed, the features suggest a modest upgrade, with similar gaming performance expected.
The GPU sports the GB202-240 die, contrasting with the previous RTX 5090 D’s GB202-250 and the standard 5090’s GB202-300. The card includes a revamped PCB design, PG145 SKU 40, accommodating updates in VRAM and GPU layout.
Interestingly, the RTX 5090 D V2 maintains 21,760 cores but trims its memory to 24 GB GDDR7 on a 384-bit interface, marking a 25% reduction in VRAM. However, performance should remain unaffected unless memory becomes a bottleneck.
While the total graphics power (TGP) is consistent at 575W, partners can increase it to 600W for overclocked models. Pricing may adjust downward given the VRAM reduction, as matching the previous model’s pricing could disappoint Chinese gamers.
Here’s a quick comparison of the GPU specs:
– GPU Name: RTX 5090 D V2
– Process Node: TSMC 4N
– GPU Cores: 21,760
– VRAM Capacity: 24 GB GDDR7
– Memory Bus: 384-bit
– Bandwidth: 1.34 TB/s
– TBP: 575W
Stay tuned for more details as this exciting release approaches.
