Hideo Kojima, the visionary mind behind iconic games like Death Stranding 2 and the Metal Gear series, is once again capturing the imagination of gamers worldwide. In a recent reveal, Kojima shared that he’s working solo on an exciting new PlayStation-exclusive title, an action-espionage game currently in its conceptual phase.
This project, intriguingly named Physint, promises to be the “culmination” of Kojima’s illustrious career. Although details remain scarce, fans are buzzing with anticipation. Kojima, known for his groundbreaking contributions to the stealth-action genre, originally launched the first Metal Gear game back in 1987. Now, with Physint, he aims to deliver a spiritual successor to the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
In his discussions, Kojima emphasized that this new game will leverage cutting-edge technology to deliver an unparalleled visual experience. He aims for a level of immersion so profound that passersby might mistake gameplay for a film. Kojima’s innovative approach has already been demonstrated with the stunning visuals of Death Stranding 2, powered by the Decima engine.
While Physint is in its early stages, Kojima is not resting on his laurels. He continues to refine Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, released for PS5 in June 2025, by analyzing player data to enhance gameplay experience.
Simultaneously, Kojima is collaborating with his team on OD, an Xbox-exclusive horror game featuring talents like Hunter Schafer and Sophia Lillis. Despite experiencing delays due to the 2024 SAG-AFTRA strike, Kojima’s partnership with Microsoft and filmmaker Jordan Peele is pushing forward.
Fans longing for Kojima’s triumphant return to the stealth-action format may have to exercise patience. With a potential release window of five to six years, Physint might coincide with the launch of the PlayStation 6.
In the meantime, gamers can dive into Death Stranding 2 on the PlayStation 5 and experience Kojima’s latest masterpiece.
