A massive GTA 6 mural is appearing in Brooklyn, and fans think Rockstar’s final marketing push has begun
Excitement around Grand Theft Auto 6 is building fast, and a new sighting in New York has given fans another reason to believe Rockstar Games is preparing for the final stretch before launch. A huge hand-painted GTA 6 mural featuring Jason and Lucia is currently taking shape in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, bringing back memories of Rockstar’s classic outdoor advertising campaigns.
The mural is being painted on the side of a building at the corner of Wythe Avenue and North 11th Street. Early images shared online show the Grand Theft Auto logo, palm trees, and the two main characters, Jason and Lucia, holding weapons. Although the artwork is not fully finished yet, the design is already clear enough to spark major discussion among fans.
What makes the location especially interesting is its history. Rockstar reportedly used the same Brooklyn corner for a GTA 5 mural back in 2013, shortly before that game launched. Older Grand Theft Auto titles were also promoted with large hand-painted building ads, making this new GTA 6 mural feel less like a random advertisement and more like a deliberate return to a long-running tradition.
For many fans, the timing is the biggest clue. GTA 6 is now only weeks away, and Rockstar has already started showing up in high-profile outdoor advertising spaces, including large displays connected to Miami-themed locations. The Brooklyn mural now adds to the feeling that the company is shifting into full promotional mode.
The comparison to GTA 5 is hard to ignore. Back in 2013, Rockstar’s New York mural appeared close to release and was part of a wider wave of advertising across the city. Now, more than a decade later, the studio appears to be following a similar strategy for Grand Theft Auto 6. That has led to growing speculation that new screenshots, gameplay footage, or another trailer could arrive soon.
So far, Rockstar has not announced any new trailer or gameplay showcase. Still, the mural’s appearance has been enough to fuel theories across the GTA community, especially as fans closely track every sign of upcoming marketing activity.
New update: Artist says the GTA 6 mural could be finished by October 9
More information has now emerged from someone claiming to be directly involved in painting the mural. According to the artist, the GTA 6 mural is expected to be completed by Friday, October 9, as long as work continues according to schedule.
The artist says the full project takes around one to two weeks to complete, with crews working eight to ten hours per day. He also described the job as freelance mural work for Colossal, a company known for large-scale hand-painted advertisements. Interestingly, he claimed the company had also worked on promotional murals for GTA: San Andreas in the past.
Another notable detail is that the mural may not remain on the building for long. According to the artist, it is a temporary advertising installation and could stay up for only about a month. If that is accurate, the artwork might even be painted over before GTA 6 officially arrives.
The possible October 9 completion date has created even more speculation. Some fans believe Rockstar could use the finished mural as part of a larger marketing moment, possibly followed by a new trailer or fresh promotional material. Others have pointed to mid-October as a possible window for more news.
For now, nothing has been confirmed. Rockstar has not promised a new trailer, gameplay reveal, or announcement tied to the mural. Even so, the Brooklyn artwork has already done its job: it has captured attention, revived nostalgia for past GTA launches, and made the countdown to Grand Theft Auto 6 feel even more real.
As the mural nears completion, all eyes are now on Rockstar to see whether this is simply a stylish piece of outdoor advertising or the beginning of a bigger GTA 6 marketing rollout.
