GTA 6 could make Lucia and Jason feel very different in hand-to-hand combat
Grand Theft Auto VI may give players more than just two different personalities to follow. Based on recent details shared after a hands-off presentation at Rockstar North, Lucia and Jason could also have distinct melee combat styles, making close-range fights feel different depending on which protagonist players are controlling.
Rockstar has already shown that Lucia and Jason are not simply interchangeable characters. Lucia has been presented as bold, ambitious, fiery, and fearless, while Jason appears more cautious, quiet, and thoughtful. Now, new claims suggest those differences may extend directly into gameplay.
According to information shared by Italian content creator MikeShowSha, Lucia is said to fight with a more technical approach. Her melee style is reportedly inspired by kickboxing and mixed martial arts, suggesting she may rely on speed, precision, and well-timed strikes when taking down enemies.
Jason, meanwhile, is described as leaning more heavily into raw power. Instead of a polished martial arts style, his hand-to-hand combat may be closer to a street-brawler approach, using strength and force to overpower opponents.
This possible difference can already be spotted in the second GTA 6 trailer. In one scene, Jason appears to slam an enemy into a car with brute force. Shortly afterward, Lucia is shown in a boxing ring delivering a sharp, controlled kick. These moments may have been more than just cinematic flair, possibly hinting at how each character will handle physical combat in the final game.
If accurate, this could make switching between Lucia and Jason more meaningful during gameplay. Rather than simply changing the character on screen, players may need to adapt their approach depending on who they are using. Lucia could be better suited for quick, skill-based close combat, while Jason may excel in heavier, more aggressive takedowns.
Fans have reacted positively to the idea of separate fighting styles, especially because it would help each protagonist feel unique. Many players want GTA 6 to build on the dual-character dynamic with meaningful gameplay differences, and melee combat could be one way Rockstar adds depth to the experience.
However, some fans have questioned Jason’s rumored fighting style. Since his background reportedly includes military service, some expected him to use more disciplined or tactical combat techniques rather than relying mainly on brute force. Still, others argue that a rough, forceful style could fit his personality and the gritty world of Grand Theft Auto VI.
At the moment, it remains unclear whether Lucia and Jason’s combat styles will be fixed throughout the game or whether players will be able to improve, customize, or expand their moves through training and progression. Rockstar has not officially confirmed any detailed melee combat system for GTA 6.
Even so, the possibility of unique fighting mechanics has added more excitement around the game. With Lucia bringing technical strikes and Jason bringing raw strength, GTA 6 could make every brawl feel more cinematic, personal, and character-driven.
Grand Theft Auto VI is already one of the most anticipated games in the world, and small details like this only increase curiosity about how far Rockstar is pushing its next open-world crime epic. If the reports are accurate, Lucia and Jason won’t just have different stories to tell — they’ll also fight their way through Vice City in very different ways.
