Google unveils Pixel Journal, an AI-powered diary for Pixel 10
Nearly two years after Apple rolled out its Journal app with iOS 17, Google is introducing its own take on digital journaling. Pixel Journal, announced alongside the Pixel 10, uses on-device AI to make it easier to capture memories, reflect on your day, and build a consistent writing habit—without sending your private entries to the cloud for processing.
What Pixel Journal can do
– Smart prompts with on-device AI: The app suggests personalized writing prompts drawn from your memories, past entries, or goals, helping you overcome blank-page moments.
– Rich entries: Add photos, locations, and activities to bring each entry to life, and log your mood to track how you’re feeling over time.
– Habit insights: Pixel Journal learns your patterns and surfaces helpful stats, like when you usually write, your longest entry by word count in a week or month, and how many entries you’ve logged over the same period.
– Privacy controls: Lock the app so others can’t access your journal.
Availability
Pixel Journal is launching first on the Pixel 10 series. Google indicated it may expand availability to older Pixel phones in the future.
Why it matters
With guided prompts, mood tracking, and private on-device intelligence, Pixel Journal is designed to make journaling more approachable and consistent—whether you’re reflecting daily, documenting trips, or tracking personal goals. Keep an eye out for broader device support as Google continues to iterate on the experience.
