Google has introduced the fourth generation of its Nest Learning Thermostat, which brings a fresh design, new features, and compatibility enhancements to users in North America. The updated smart thermostat is now available for purchase, priced at $279.99 in the United States and CAD $379.99 in Canada. It is set to start shipping on August 20th.
The latest iteration of the Nest Learning Thermostat sports an overhauled aesthetic with a choice of black, silver, or gold finishes. At the center is a new domed LCD screen which is 60% larger than the one on the previous model, providing a clearer, more accessible display that shows essential information at a glance.
One of the standout features of the new thermostat is the integration of Google’s Soli radar system, which powers the ‘Dynamic Farsight’ feature. This technology detects when someone approaches and can display different content based on the user’s proximity, enhancing interaction and energy savings.
Additionally, the new Nest Learning Thermostat earns its name through its ability to learn and adapt to user habits. It optimizes energy usage and indoor climate by establishing schedules based on your preferences, contributing to both comfort and cost-efficiency.
Compatibility is a significant upgrade for the latest model, as it comes with Matter support. This inclusion means that it can easily integrate with a variety of smart home ecosystems, including Google Home, Apple HomeKit, and Samsung SmartThings, offering a versatile and centralized approach to home automation.
Google ensures that purchasers of the new thermostat will also receive a Nest Temperature Sensor 2nd Gen with each order. For those looking to outfit multiple rooms, there’s an option to buy additional sensors either individually for $39.99 or as a 3-pack bundle for $99.99.
While the new Nest Learning Thermostat marks a significant update to Google’s offerings in smart home climate control, international availability and pricing outside Canada and the US have not yet been disclosed.
If you’re looking to enhance your smart home setup with the latest technology in thermostatic control, consider the new Nest Learning Thermostat for its sleek design, adaptive features, and broad smart home ecosystem compatibility.
