Google is enhancing its Keep app for Android by introducing a new feature known as ‘Help me create a list’. Utilizing Google’s generative AI, Gemini, this feature aims to give users a head-start on creating a variety of lists including shopping, to-do, and packing lists.
Unveiled within the Google Keep app, the ‘Help me create a list’ option prominently displays in the bottom-right corner when initiating a new note. Users can activate the feature by simply describing the type of list they’re looking to create, using text-based prompts. Based on user input, the AI generates an appropriate list.
Examples of prompts for the AI to work with might include:
- “Packing list for a camping trip with 2 kids in summer”
- “Classic movies to watch on Halloween”
- “Spring cleaning checklist for a 2-bedroom apartment”
The technology encourages specificity to produce the most useful results, such as “Groceries for a week for a vegetarian family of 3.” Once a list has been generated, users can choose to create a to-do list from it and are prompted to provide feedback – a thumbs up or down – to gauge their satisfaction with the generated content.
Should users wish to alter the created list, they can edit their initial prompt and refresh to get a new list that aligns more closely with their needs. However, it’s important to be mindful of privacy, as Google notes the collection and storage of provided prompts, the AI-generated text, and user feedback. Steer clear of entering any sensitive personal information when using this functionality.
