Google Search Error Lists GTA 6 on PS5 for Just £0.16, Leaving Fans More Confused Than Ever
Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have been watching every retailer listing, search result, and store page for clues about the game’s price, pre-order date, and release plans. But the latest discovery has only added more confusion.
A strange Google Shopping result recently appeared to show GTA 6 available on the PlayStation Store for only £0.16. That is just 16 pence, or roughly 21 cents in U.S. currency. For one of the most anticipated video games of all time, the price was clearly too good to be true.
The unusual listing was shared on social media after a user searched for GTA 6 and spotted what looked like a PlayStation Store result claiming the game was in stock. At first glance, it may have seemed like a major accidental reveal. However, the absurdly low price quickly made it obvious that this was almost certainly a search result error rather than a real listing from Sony or Rockstar Games.
Clicking through did not lead to an actual GTA 6 purchase page, which means fans hoping for an early pre-order surprise were left disappointed once again.
The mistake follows another recent wave of confusion surrounding a GTA 6 pre-order email that appeared to come from Best Buy or an associated affiliate program. That message also seemed to suggest that pre-orders were near, but it now looks more like an accidental or incorrect communication rather than an official launch signal.
For now, Rockstar Games has not announced the official GTA 6 price, nor has it opened pre-orders. Fans are still waiting for confirmation on when they can reserve the game and whether the currently planned November 19 release date remains fully on track.
More information could arrive around Take-Two Interactive’s earnings call on May 21. Since Take-Two is Rockstar’s parent company, investors and players will be listening closely for any mention of Grand Theft Auto 6. However, some industry watchers believe Rockstar may wait until July or August before revealing the next major trailer or opening pre-orders.
That would not be surprising. Rockstar is known for tightly controlling its marketing campaigns, especially for a release as massive as GTA 6. The studio will likely want any major announcement, including price, editions, pre-order bonuses, and trailer details, to come directly from its own official channels.
Still, accidental store listings and console marketplace updates are not impossible. Large publishers often prepare backend store pages, promotional assets, and product listings months in advance. Because of that, small mistakes can occasionally appear before official announcements.
There have already been signs that Sony is preparing heavily for the GTA 6 launch. Some PlayStation 4 owners reportedly received a message encouraging them to upgrade their console ahead of the game’s arrival on PS5. With GTA 6 skipping older hardware, Sony is expected to benefit from a major wave of PS5 purchases as players prepare for Rockstar’s next open-world blockbuster.
There are also rumors of a possible PS5 Pro bundle tied to GTA 6. While nothing has been confirmed, such a partnership would make sense given the size of the franchise and the expected demand for the best possible console experience.
As for the real GTA 6 price, players should not expect anything close to £0.16. Most expectations place the standard edition somewhere between $70 and $100. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has previously suggested the price will be “very reasonable,” though that statement has not stopped fans from speculating about whether GTA 6 could push beyond the usual premium game price.
Several retailers have already posted their own placeholder listings. One Italian retailer reportedly allowed customers to reserve PS5 and Xbox copies for €69.90 before the listing sold out. Another European store has listed the PlayStation version for €99. These prices are likely temporary placeholders and should not be treated as official.
Until Rockstar makes a formal announcement, any GTA 6 price listing, pre-order page, or search result should be viewed with caution. The £0.16 Google result may have been amusing, but it also shows how easily misinformation can spread when anticipation is this high.
For now, the wait continues. GTA 6 remains one of the biggest upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X|S releases, and fans are eager for the next trailer, official pre-order details, confirmed pricing, and a closer look at what Rockstar has planned for its return to Vice City.
