Global Rollout of March 2024 Security Update Hits Galaxy S23 Series and Beyond

Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S23 lineup is now receiving the March 2024 security update in markets around the world. Following its initial US release, the international deployment has expanded to Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. Moreover, the budget-friendly Galaxy A52 (4G) is joining the ranks with the same security enhancement.

Galaxy S23 Series Receives March Security Patch Worldwide

After the US commencement last week, Samsung’s Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are globally receiving the March 2024 security patch. The firmware carrying this update is identified as S91*BXXS3BXBD, which aligns with the US firmware. The primary focus of this update is to bolster security, aligning with expectations that a more feature-rich One UI 6.1 update, borrowing elements from the Galaxy S24 series, is on the horizon.

The March 2024 Security Maintenance Release (SMR) remedies a total of 46 vulnerabilities affecting the Android ecosystem and Samsung’s proprietary enhancements. Of these, Google addressed 37 vulnerabilities inherent to the Android OS, while Samsung corrected 9 that were unique to Galaxy devices.

Samsung’s Galaxy A14 5G is also receiving the March security update in select regions. An over-the-air update, specifically in India, is available with a build number of A146BXXS3CXC2 and an approximate file size of 210MB. Similar to the S23 series, this update is concentrated on security with no additional features.

Extended Device Update Rollout Anticipated

Samsung, known for its extensive device portfolio and leading Android update support, released the March 2024 SMR promptly at the month’s start, initially to its latest Galaxy S24 series. Following this, the company has extended the update to various other models, including newer foldable smartphones.

In the upcoming days, an array of other Samsung models is slated to receive the latest security patch. Devices such as the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 have already been updated in the US, with international rollouts expected to follow. Android enthusiasts can look forward to further updates on these rollouts to ensure their devices remain secure and up-to-date.
