GIGABYTE is preparing to launch a new external GPU in India, and it could be a big deal for gamers and creators using laptops or compact PCs. A company representative recently confirmed on the r/IndianGaming subreddit that the AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX is coming to the Indian market soon, marking what’s being described as GIGABYTE’s first external GPU release in the region.
The AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX was originally introduced in September 2025 and officially launched in December. What makes it stand out in the growing eGPU space is its focus on high bandwidth connectivity, including support for the latest Thunderbolt 5 interface. With external GPUs, the connection between your laptop and the graphics box can be the difference between “nice upgrade” and “desktop-like performance,” and Thunderbolt 5 is designed to push that ceiling higher.
Inside the enclosure is a desktop-class GeForce RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM, aimed at handling modern, memory-hungry games and workloads more comfortably than lower-VRAM solutions. For users who rely on integrated graphics or weaker laptop GPUs, an eGPU like this can serve as a straightforward way to boost frame rates, enable higher settings, and generally make demanding titles feel smoother—without buying an entirely new desktop.
Connectivity is a key selling point here. The AI BOX is expected to include both Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 5 ports, giving it flexibility across a wide range of systems. For owners of Thunderbolt 5-equipped laptops and mini PCs, the bigger attraction is the jump in bandwidth: Thunderbolt 5 offers up to 80Gbps, which is nearly double what Thunderbolt 4 can provide. That higher throughput can help reduce common eGPU bottlenecks and narrow the performance gap compared to running a GPU directly inside a desktop PC. The Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth is also positioned as exceeding OCuLink, further strengthening the case for users who want the fastest mainstream external GPU connection available.
GIGABYTE is also making the setup more “plug and play” by including a dedicated 330W external power adapter. That means the unit is built to deliver strong performance out of the box, without requiring extra power hardware from the user—an important detail for people who want a clean, compact gaming setup.
Still, even the most feature-packed external GPU can rise or fall based on pricing. The GIGABYTE representative described it as a niche upgrade path rather than a replacement for budget desktops, which matches how most eGPU buyers shop: they’re typically people who already own a capable Thunderbolt laptop or small-form-factor PC and want a convenient performance upgrade. Final pricing for India hasn’t been announced yet, and that will likely determine how popular the AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX becomes—especially at a time when GPU costs remain pressured by rising memory and component prices.
For Indian gamers looking to turn a thin-and-light laptop or mini PC into a more serious gaming machine, the arrival of a Thunderbolt 5-ready eGPU with an RTX 5060 Ti and 16GB GDDR7 could be one of the more interesting upgrade options to watch in the near future.
