Xbox has unveiled a quirky new promotion to stir excitement for Obsidian Entertainment’s eagerly awaited Grounded 2, available soon on Xbox Series S|X, PC, Xbox Cloud, Steam Early Access, and Xbox Game Pass. The company is offering gamers a chance to win a massive 10-foot red ant buggy-mount inspired by the game. To enter, fans simply need to follow Xbox on X or Instagram and comment using #Grounded2Sweepstakes. This exciting giveaway runs until August 31, 2025. For those attending Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, there’s an opportunity to see this giant red ant plushie firsthand on August 20 at the Xbox Fanfest.
In a statement, Xbox’s Vice President of Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, expressed enthusiasm about bringing the in-game Red Ant Buddy to life, highlighting it as a unique blend of furniture and fun.
Grounded 2 is priced at $29.99 for the Standard Edition and $39.99 for the Founder’s Edition, which offers additional bonuses like four cosmetic skins, a digital artbook, soundtrack, and custom emotes. The game embraces Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing seamless save transitions between Xbox and PC.
This sequel builds upon the success of the original Grounded, which attracted 15 million players by transporting them to the fictional world of Brookhollow Public Park. The game expands on its predecessor’s popular co-op survival experience by tripling the map size. Notably, it introduces rideable mounts, known as “Buggies,” featuring creatures like Orb Weavers and Red Ant Soldiers. Greenberg emphasized that the introduction of these mounts fulfills a major fan request and is central to the new game’s appeal.
The Game Preview launch pledges a series of expansive content updates every few months, departing from the previous game’s monthly updates. Although currently exclusive to Xbox and PC, there is speculation that Grounded 2 might eventually make its way to PlayStation or Nintendo platforms, considering the first game’s expansive release on April 16, 2024.
