Gemini Soars Past 750 Million Monthly Users, Cementing Google’s AI Momentum

Google’s AI chatbot Gemini has surged past 750 million monthly active users, based on updates shared in the company’s fourth-quarter 2025 earnings results. The milestone underscores how quickly Gemini is being adopted by everyday users and businesses, helping it cement a position among the most-used AI assistants on the market.

That growth is especially striking because Gemini was reported at 650 million monthly active users just last quarter. Jumping by roughly 100 million users in a short span signals strong momentum for Google’s AI efforts at a time when competition in generative AI is intense. For perspective, Meta AI has disclosed nearly 500 million monthly users, while Gemini’s biggest competitor, ChatGPT, is still slightly ahead with estimates around 810 million monthly active users in late 2025.

The user gains arrive shortly after the debut of Gemini 3, which Google describes as its most advanced model yet. The company says the latest version delivers responses with greater depth and nuance, aiming to make the assistant more helpful for real-world tasks like writing, research, planning, and problem-solving. Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai pointed to Gemini 3’s rollout in AI mode as a “positive driver” of growth, and emphasized that continued investment and rapid iteration are key to keeping that momentum going.

Pricing is also becoming part of Google’s strategy to broaden Gemini’s appeal. The company recently introduced a lower-cost subscription option called Google AI Plus, priced at $7.99 per month. While it launched too recently to impact the quarterly numbers, the move is designed to attract budget-conscious users who want upgraded AI features without paying premium rates. Company leadership also stressed that Gemini’s expansion is being supported by both a free tier and subscription offerings, a combination that can help scale adoption while building recurring revenue.

Gemini’s rise is happening alongside a major financial milestone for Alphabet, which posted more than $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time. Google credited that performance in part to increasing demand across its AI business. On the infrastructure side, the company is also pushing forward with AI hardware, introducing a new generation of TPU AI accelerator chips called Ironwood as it competes in the high-stakes market for AI computing.

Pichai also highlighted the scale of Gemini’s usage beyond the consumer app. According to the company, its first-party AI models, including Gemini, are now processing more than 10 billion tokens per minute through direct API usage by customers. He added that Google Search is seeing record usage as AI features contribute to what he described as an “expansionary moment,” suggesting that AI tools are not just replacing existing behavior, but increasing overall engagement across Google’s products.

With 750 million monthly active users and accelerating growth tied to new model upgrades, expanded pricing options, and heavy investment in AI infrastructure, Gemini is quickly becoming one of the central platforms in the generative AI race—still chasing the top spot, but narrowing the gap as adoption continues to rise.
