Garmin Drive GPS Navigators Add Smartphone Connectivity, Voice Control, and Live Fuel Prices
Garmin has introduced its latest Drive GPS navigators, designed for drivers who want a dedicated navigation system with modern connected features. The new models combine large, easy-to-read displays with smartphone integration, route planning, hands-free calling, and helpful travel information for everyday commutes and long road trips.
One of the standout features is the ability to view current gas and diesel prices at nearby fuel stations, making it easier for drivers of internal combustion engine vehicles to compare prices before stopping. This can be especially useful on longer journeys, where fuel costs can vary significantly from one location to another.
The Garmin Drive smartphone app adds another layer of convenience. Drivers can plan routes directly on their phone and then send them to the GPS navigator, reducing the need to enter destinations manually on the device. For those who prefer a more hands-free experience, destinations can also be selected using voice control.
The navigation system is also built to help travelers discover useful stops along the way. Hotels, restaurants, and other destinations can be shown with TripAdvisor ratings, giving drivers quick insight into popular places without needing to search separately on a phone.
When connected to a smartphone, Garmin Drive can also function as a hands-free calling system. This allows drivers to make and receive calls more safely while keeping their focus on the road.
The new Garmin Drive GPS navigators are now available through Garmin’s online store. The 7.1-inch model is priced at $299, while the larger 8.8-inch version is available for $349. Both options are aimed at drivers who prefer a standalone GPS device with smart connectivity features and a wide display for clearer navigation.
