Garmin’s Latest Smartwatch Update Arrives—But Only Select Users Can Get It Now

Garmin Instinct 3 Software Update 15.13 Brings New Fixes, But Not Everyone Can Download It Yet

Garmin has started rolling out software version 15.13 for the Instinct 3 smartwatch lineup, bringing a mix of useful improvements, performance refinements, and bug fixes. However, this latest update is not available to every user right away.

The new firmware applies to several models in the Instinct 3 family, including the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, Instinct E, Instinct 3 Tactical Solar, Instinct 3 Tactical AMOLED, and Instinct Crossover AMOLED. For now, the release is limited to users enrolled in Garmin’s beta program, meaning regular users will need to wait a little longer before receiving the stable version.

Garmin is also using its usual staged rollout strategy. At the moment, software update 15.13 is reaching only around 20 percent of eligible beta devices. This phased approach allows Garmin to monitor performance and identify any unexpected issues before expanding availability to more users.

One of the key improvements included in the update is better gear recommendations for hiking activities. This should make the Instinct 3 series more helpful for outdoor users who rely on Garmin’s activity tracking tools during hikes, trail walks, and adventure workouts.

Garmin has also improved treadmill distance calibration. This is especially useful for users who train indoors and want more accurate distance tracking when running or walking on a treadmill. Better calibration can lead to more reliable workout data, helping athletes fine-tune their training routines.

Another important fix addresses Garmin Pay. Previously, some users experienced an app crash when trying to add a payment method. With update 15.13, Garmin says this issue has been resolved, making the payment setup process smoother and more reliable.

The update also includes model-specific fixes. For the Instinct 3 Tactical AMOLED, Garmin has corrected a date display issue. Across AMOLED models, sleep data should now appear properly in the Morning Report, giving users a clearer overview of their rest and recovery at the start of the day.

For the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E, Garmin has fixed an issue in the DogTrack glance where the displayed direction could be incorrect. The update also resolves a problem involving empty data fields, improving the overall reliability of activity and widget information.

Depending on the exact Instinct 3 model, software version 15.13 may also include power management optimizations. These changes could help improve efficiency and battery behavior, which is especially important for Garmin users who depend on long-lasting performance during outdoor activities.

Garmin has also refined the post-race summary screen for obstacle course activities on select models. This should make it easier for users to review performance data after completing these demanding workouts.

Although update 15.13 is not yet widely available, it shows Garmin’s continued focus on improving the Instinct 3 series through regular software updates. Users who are part of the beta program may be able to install it now, while others will likely receive the update once Garmin completes testing and expands the rollout.

For Instinct 3 owners, this update is a solid step forward, especially for those who use their smartwatch for hiking, treadmill workouts, sleep tracking, Garmin Pay, and outdoor training.
