Garmin has exciting news for Fenix 7 and Fenix 7 Pro smartwatch users—an update that brings a host of enhancements, with a notable highlight being the inclusion of the CIQ System 8. This update, known as System Software 20.16, is packed with over 20 improvements and has just been released after a two-month hiatus.
The update isn’t just limited to the Fenix series. It also expands to other compatible models like the Enduro 2 and Tactix 7, marking the conclusion of the beta testing phase that started back in January with Beta Version 20.10. While the last major update was the System Software 19.34 in December, subsequent updates primarily aimed at squashing specific bugs rather than adding new functionalities.
With System Software 20.16, Garmin introduces several noteworthy enhancements. Aside from supporting CIQ System 8, users will benefit from a dozen bug fixes, tackling issues like widget and app crashes, resolving headphone connectivity problems, and various other performance improvements. So far, about 20% of potential users have received this update automatically. However, you can proactively download it by heading to the smartwatch’s Menu, selecting System, then Software Update, and tapping ‘Check for Updates’.
Here’s a snapshot of what’s new in System Software 20.16:
