Garmin is rolling out a major stable update to many recent Instinct smartwatches, bringing a long list of new features, refinements, and bug fixes aimed at better health insights, smoother performance, and improved battery life. Labeled System Software 12.21, the release includes roughly 35 changes across the Instinct E, Instinct 3, and Instinct Crossover lineups, with several additions tailored to AMOLED and Solar variants.

– A rare graphical glitch on the Morning Report watch face has been corrected, along with animation issues on 45 mm models.
– Stability fixes include preventing crashes when viewing daily suggested workouts and refining the load ratio graph indicator.
– Various user interface and menu issues are resolved, including in the sensor menu and golf club sensor info page.
– Watch hands no longer stick after finishing an activity on Crossover models.
– Missed call animations, barometer chart scaling, and Tactical-only Kill Switch countdown behaviors are fixed.
– Software updates should now appear promptly after using Check for Updates.
– Added support for HRM Pace & Distance over BLE.
How to get the update
The rollout has already reached about 20% of eligible Instinct E, Instinct 3, and Instinct Crossover devices and will expand over the coming days. You can try to pull it early by opening Settings on your watch and selecting Check for Updates. Installation occurs over the air and may take several minutes.
