Garmin Rolls Out Major Smartwatch Update Packed With New Features and Fixes

Garmin Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 Get New Beta Update With Key Bug Fixes

Garmin is rolling out a fresh beta software update for the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970, bringing a set of useful fixes to two of its latest mid-range running smartwatches. The new release, Public Beta Version 18.32, arrives shortly after the major Software Version 18.29 update, which delivered a larger batch of improvements and changes.

Instead of moving immediately into a new software development cycle, Garmin has continued refining the 18.xx firmware branch. This latest beta appears focused on improving stability and fixing everyday issues that could affect workouts, notifications, alarms, and music playback.

Public Beta Version 18.32 is now being offered to Garmin Beta Program users globally. If the update has not appeared automatically, users can manually check for it directly on the watch. To do this, open the main menu, go to Settings, then System, choose Software Update, and select Check for Updates.

One of the most important fixes addresses an issue that could cause the Forerunner 570 or Forerunner 970 to unexpectedly reset when switching between screens during an activity. For runners, cyclists, and athletes tracking live performance data, this kind of problem can be especially frustrating, so the fix should make activity recording more reliable.

Garmin has also corrected a problem that could unintentionally disable alarm vibration. This should help users who rely on their watch for silent wake-up alerts, reminders, or timed notifications.

Another notable improvement involves smart notifications. After installing Public Beta Version 18.32, notifications should no longer play a tone when the watch is set to silent mode or do not disturb mode. This makes the devices more dependable in meetings, during sleep, or in any situation where quiet operation is expected.

The update also includes a fix for a potential Spotify playback issue. Some users may have experienced problems after skipping songs using paired Bluetooth headphones. With this release, music playback should behave more consistently during workouts and daily use.

Garmin’s official changelog for Public Beta Version 18.32 includes the following fixes:

Fixes an issue that could cause the alarm vibration to be unintentionally disabled.

Fixes an issue that could cause the device to reset when changing screens during an activity.

Fixes other minor issues.

Fixes a potential issue with Spotify music playback after skipping songs through paired Bluetooth headphones.

Prevents smart notifications from sounding a tone when the device is in silent mode or do not disturb mode.

While this is not a feature-packed update, it is an important maintenance release for Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 owners participating in the beta program. The fixes target practical problems that can impact daily usability, workout tracking, and notification behavior.

As with all beta software, users should remember that test releases may still contain bugs. However, for those who want the latest Garmin improvements before they reach the stable channel, Public Beta Version 18.32 is now available to download.
