Garmin Rolls Out Major Beta Update 7.13 for Fenix 9, Fenix 9 Pro, and Enduro 4 Smartwatches
Garmin has released a significant new beta software update for its latest premium smartwatch lineup, bringing a long list of improvements to the Fenix 9, Fenix 9 Pro, and Enduro 4. The update, known as Beta Version 7.13, is now available globally for eligible users and marks the first public release in Garmin’s new v7.xx firmware branch for these models.
Although the update was briefly referenced under a different version number in a forum post, Beta Version 7.13 is the firmware users should look for. It introduces a substantial changelog with 35 total changes, including new features, performance improvements, and a wide range of bug fixes designed to improve daily usability, activity tracking, mapping, music controls, and overall system stability.
One of the more useful additions is distance editing for Indoor Cycling and XC Ski Indoor activity profiles. This should make post-workout data easier to refine, especially for users who train indoors and want their activity summaries to better reflect their actual session.
Garmin has also added a first-time tip for power modes, helping users better understand how to manage battery life and performance settings. For those who use their smartwatch during hikes, runs, or weighted walks, the update now includes Pack Weight and Pack Weight Calorie Burn Rate cards after activities, giving a clearer picture of effort and calorie burn when carrying extra weight.
Another notable change is the addition of a smooth second hand setting for select watch faces. This gives compatible watch faces a more traditional analog-style motion, improving the visual experience for users who prefer a classic look. Garmin has also added a timeout setting to the flashlight quick control, making the built-in flashlight feature more flexible and convenient.
The bulk of Beta Version 7.13 focuses on bug fixes. Garmin has addressed several issues related to maps, including a blank item appearing in the map layers menu, course previews not displaying correctly when certain map types are enabled, incorrect vehicle icons appearing on the map, and problems with the north arrow placement. Satellite icon drawing has also been corrected on solar models, along with an issue where satellite settings would not update properly after changing Power Mode from the Activity Stage Menu.
Several activity-related problems have been fixed as well. The update resolves heart rate dropouts in ArcheryX, improves Golf shot detection, and makes refinements to Indoor Row tracking. It also fixes an issue where Running Stamina could show “Maximum Zone” even when the user’s heart rate was below the lowest zone.
Garmin has also worked on improving system stability. Beta Version 7.13 fixes several potential shutdown scenarios, including crashes that could occur when changing sports, downloading Outdoor Maps+ content, enabling heart rate broadcast from Garmin Connect, searching for points of interest, selecting activity data screens, starting a HIIT activity, switching Spotify playlists, using ClimbPro in a Run activity, or repeatedly pressing the back button in the music app.
Other fixes include resolving notification sounds playing in silent mode, correcting lag when entering the Connect IQ watch face menu, fixing strength weight edits when using buttons, improving the Epic app’s responsiveness, updating the World Timer watch face, correcting a missing player score on the round info page, fixing the progress bar in the LineMusic app, and updating translations.
Users should be aware that Beta Version 7.13 disables Dive and ECG features while installed. Garmin has not yet confirmed when this firmware branch will move from beta testing to a stable public release, so those who rely on Dive or ECG functionality may want to wait before installing.
Overall, Garmin Beta Version 7.13 appears to be a major step forward for the Fenix 9, Fenix 9 Pro, and Enduro 4. With new workout tools, better mapping behavior, improved activity tracking, and a long list of stability fixes, this update should make Garmin’s latest flagship smartwatches feel more polished for users participating in the beta program.
