Garmin has just unleashed a fresh software update for its high-end smartwatches, including the popular Enduro 2 and Fenix 7 series. Despite previously suggesting it had concluded its v18.xx updates, Garmin’s latest firmware, Beta Version 18.15, introduces over half a dozen enhancements.
This unexpected update is currently available through Garmin’s Beta Program. Initially, it was anticipated that the next version would be the first of the 19.xx series, as Garmin had implied that v18.14 marked the end of their ’18.xx beta period.’ However, Beta Version 18.15 is now rolling out, boasting seven improvements over its predecessor. Notably, this update does not include new GPS, touch screen, wireless, or sensor hub firmware updates.
According to Garmin, Beta Version 18.15 offers the following improvements:
– Enhanced heart rate zones, now adjustable by BPM.
– Resolved potential shutdown issues when modifying heart rate zones via Garmin Connect Mobile.
– Fixed possible shutdown on device boot.
– Addressed concerns of increased battery drain after activities with incident detection enabled.
– Corrected issues with the trolling motor pairing sequence.
– Fixed instances where maps displayed excessively thick lines.
– Resolved problems causing Basecamp to fail in recognizing the device.
While Garmin hasn’t officially confirmed it, this beta update is likely to transition to a stable release soon. These smaller updates typically address bugs found in recent stable versions. It’s worth noting that Beta Version 18.15 disables the electrocardiogram (ECG) functionality, which was re-enabled in Beta Version 18.14. For more detailed information, refer to Garmin’s forum post.
Keep an eye out for this update if you’re part of Garmin’s Beta Program, and enjoy the enhanced features and fixed bugs on your device!
