Garmin Releases Beta Update with Enhancements for Instinct Series Smartwatches

Garmin has recently announced the rollout of its latest Beta Version 15.02, aimed at enhancing the performance of several models in the Instinct smartwatch series. This update includes the Instinct 2, Instinct 2s, Instinct 2X, and Instinct Crossover smartwatches and marks the commencement of the new 15.xx update series. This release succeeds the previous update, Version 14.12, which was introduced in December.

The focus of Version 15.02 is to provide a series of important bug fixes enhancing the user’s experience. Among these fixes is a resolution to an issue encountered while editing reps during a workout, where the wrong page was previously displayed. The update also strengthens the calculation of the training load for users utilizing the Store & Forward feature in conjunction with HRM straps.

Specific issues pertaining to the Instinct line have also been addressed with this beta release. Users of the Instinct 2, Instinct 2s, and Instinct 2X will notice a refreshed temperature icon, as well as the inclusion of missing characters on the Russian keyboard which are now accessible. The software also corrects a problem related to location distances within the Reference Point app and during Cross-country Ski activities that could prompt device crashes.

Additionally, dedicated fixes have been implemented for the Instinct 2X and Crossover models. GPS-based distance tracking has been improved, and a map drawing issue exclusive to the Crossover model has been resolved. Instinct 2X users will also appreciate more accurate battery life predictions when using the flashlight in battery saver mode, and the resolution of a separate flashlight problem.

To apply the new beta update, users can manually download the software from the Garmin forum. There, detailed instructions are provided to guide the installation process. Notably, the folders for the Instinct 2X and Crossover models come with new GPS firmware updates that should be installed to ensure optimal performance.

For those enthusiastic about staying on the cutting edge with their Garmin devices, there is an opportunity to join the beta program through Garmin Connect. This program gives users access to the latest features and improvements while helping Garmin refine its software through community feedback.

The update underscores Garmin’s commitment to maintaining device functionality and providing its users with a seamless and more accurate experience through continuous software enhancements.
