Garmin is rolling out a fresh stable update for the Venu X1 smartwatch, continuing its steady pace of improvements for the premium wearable. The new release, software version 16.40, arrives just a couple of weeks after version 16.37, which delivered a wider set of bug fixes across the Venu X1, Venu 4, and vivoactive 6 lineup.
This time, the software update is a small but useful refinement focused specifically on the Garmin Venu X1. According to the official change log, version 16.40 fixes an issue that prevented the smartwatch’s serial number from showing correctly on the About page. If you’ve ever needed that information for support, device registration, or troubleshooting, this fix will make the About screen behave as expected again.
Beyond the serial number display correction, Garmin doesn’t list any additional changes in version 16.40. It also appears the Venu 4 and vivoactive 6 models weren’t impacted by this particular bug, since no matching update has been mentioned for those watches.
Garmin has confirmed that software version 16.40 is now available to all Venu X1 users. In most cases, the update should install automatically when your watch syncs through Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express. If you prefer to speed things up, you can manually check for it directly on the watch by going to Main Menu, then Settings, then System, then Software Update.
For Venu X1 owners, it’s a quick update, but it’s another sign that Garmin is continuing to polish the experience with stable releases and targeted fixes.
