Garmin has unveiled an exciting new update for several of its high-end smartwatches, including the Enduro 2, Epix 2, Fenix 7, Marq Gen 2, and Quatix 7. This update, Beta Version 23.08, is part of Garmin’s public Beta Program and aims to enhance smartwatch functionality.
Priced at around $399.99, these smartwatches are getting some noteworthy upgrades. The new beta update addresses connection issues and introduces ANT and BLE+ pairing support for specific external sensors, enhancing the overall connectivity experience.
If you’re enrolled in the Beta Program, expect a gradual rollout of this over-the-air update, typically completed within 24 to 48 hours. For those who can’t wait, you can manually check for the update via your device by navigating to Menu, System, Software Update, and tapping ‘Check for Updates’.
In a recent forum post, Garmin highlighted improvements in sensor connectivity, specifically mentioning improved pairing capabilities through Advanced and Adaptive Network Technology (ANT) and Bluetooth Low Energy+ (BLE+). Additionally, Kestrel environmental monitoring device connectivity issues from previous builds have been resolved.
One point to note is that ECG functionality remains disabled in this build. Garmin plans to release further beta updates before transitioning to a stable software branch with the v.23.xx builds.
