Garmin rolls out System Software 27.18 for Fenix 7, Epix 2, Enduro 2, and Marq Gen 2 watches
Garmin has started releasing a significant stable software update for several of its older high-end smartwatches, bringing important bug fixes and performance improvements to popular models such as the Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro, Epix 2, Enduro 2, and Marq Gen 2.
The update arrives as System Software 27.18 and marks the first stable release for the Fenix 7 Pro in more than four months. It follows a series of recent beta builds that tested fixes and refinements before Garmin pushed the software to the wider public.
According to Garmin, the rollout is already underway and has reached around half of eligible devices. As usual, the update may arrive in stages, so not every smartwatch owner will see it immediately. Users who do not want to wait can manually check for the update directly from the watch.
To check manually, open the main menu, go to Settings, select System, choose Software Update, and then tap Check for Updates.
System Software 27.18 focuses mainly on fixing issues that affected day-to-day usability. One of the most important corrections addresses a problem where some watches could unexpectedly shut down while using navigation features. For users who rely on Garmin watches for hiking, running, cycling, or outdoor tracking, this fix should make navigation more dependable.
The update also resolves an issue with Sleep Mode, where the display could exit dimming mode at the wrong time. This should improve the experience for users who wear their Garmin smartwatch overnight for sleep tracking and recovery insights.
Garmin has also fixed a bug that caused the color scheme to invert during an activity. While not as serious as a shutdown issue, display glitches during workouts can be distracting, especially for athletes who frequently glance at their watch for pace, heart rate, route, or training data.
Another useful fix improves the Find My Phone feature. Some users previously experienced a problem where the feature would not play sound after completing an activity. With System Software 27.18, the function should work more reliably when trying to locate a connected smartphone.
Music control support has also been improved. Garmin says the update fixes an issue where devices without Wi-Fi did not have access to music controls. This should help make media control more consistent across supported smartwatch models.
The update also addresses pairing problems with HRM sensors. Previously, some watches would not allow pairing with a heart rate monitor sensor on an open connection. This fix is especially important for athletes who use external chest straps or heart rate accessories for more accurate training data.
Fishing activity users are included as well. Garmin has corrected an issue where the Fish Interval timer would not reset after logging a fish, improving the reliability of tracking during fishing sessions.
Weather data should also behave better after the update. Garmin notes that System Software 27.18 fixes a bug where weather information would sometimes fail to refresh properly.
