GameSir is expanding its mobile gaming lineup with the GameSir G8 Plus MFi, a new telescopic controller built specifically for Apple users. It’s the company’s first controller to earn Made for iPhone/iPad (MFi) certification, which is designed to deliver dependable performance, stable connectivity, and broad compatibility across supported iOS and iPadOS devices. If you play console-style games on an iPhone or an iPad mini, this controller is aimed squarely at you.
The GameSir G8 Plus MFi comes in a clean white finish paired with gray thumbsticks, D-pad, shoulder buttons, and triggers. Instead of relying on wireless pairing, it connects through a movable USB-C port, giving you a direct, low-latency connection for responsive gameplay. It also supports pass-through charging, so you can keep your phone or tablet powered while you play—an important feature for longer sessions and cloud gaming.
In terms of controls, GameSir is leaning into features players typically look for in premium mobile controllers. You get a mechanical D-pad, membrane ABXY buttons, Hall Effect thumbsticks, and Hall Effect analog triggers. Hall Effect components are often favored because they’re designed to provide smoother input and reduce the risk of stick drift over time. On the back, there are two customizable buttons built into laser-engraved grips, giving you extra options for mapping actions to your preferred layout.
Customization is another highlight. The controller includes a detachable magnetic faceplate, letting users adjust the thumbsticks and even swap the ABXY layout to better match personal preference or different game styles. There’s also a built-in audio jack, which is useful if you want a wired headset connection while gaming on the go.
Although it’s positioned as an Apple-focused controller thanks to MFi certification, the spec sheet also notes Android compatibility. Device size matters, however: supported devices must fit within a maximum length of 215 mm (8.46 inches). That means it can handle compact tablets in addition to phones, making it a potential option for Android users with smaller slates as well.
It’s also worth knowing what this model doesn’t include. Unlike the standard GameSir G8 Plus, the G8 Plus MFi skips the internal battery and Bluetooth connectivity, sticking to a wired USB-C approach. It also lacks a gyroscope, so motion controls won’t be part of the experience here.
Pricing remains approachable for a feature-rich mobile controller. The GameSir G8 Plus MFi is available now for $79.99, matching the cost of its sibling while adding Apple MFi certification and keeping the focus on direct USB-C performance.
