Game Developers Warn Against Installing NVIDIA Driver 572.XX for RTX 30 and RTX 40 Series Due to Stability Issues

Recent reports have highlighted a growing concern among gamers using NVIDIA’s latest GPU drivers, particularly affecting the RTX 40 and RTX 30 series graphics cards. With the release of the latest drivers in the 572.XX range, many users are experiencing unexpected crashes, freezes, and performance hiccups that have significantly impacted their gaming experience. In response, developers are now nudging players towards using older, more stable drivers.

The newly released games “inZoi” and “The First Berserker: Khazan,” both hitting the market just days ago, have not been immune to these issues. Gamers utilizing RTX 40 series cards are facing disruptions such as stuttering and frame rate drops. While the RTX 50 GPUs remain relatively unscathed by these problems, they did encounter their own struggles with these drivers soon after launch, including issues like black screens, which only recent updates have managed to resolve.

In the wake of these challenges, the development teams behind both inZoi and Khazan have issued guidance to players. They recommend those with RTX 40 series graphics cards revert to the 566.36 driver version, released in December 2024, before the RTX 50 series even debuted. This version reportedly provides a more reliable performance for the affected models. In stark contrast, owners of the RTX 50 series are advised to stick with the latest 572.83 drivers, as these are specifically designed to support their hardware.

The situation with the RTX 30 series isn’t as dire, but some users are still reporting occasional instability. Developers suggest switching back to the 566.36 drivers if any performance issues arise.

Unfortunately, for those grappling with these problems and possessing an RTX 50 GPU, switching to an older driver isn’t an option due to compatibility issues—they require the latest software. This scenario has sparked debate about NVIDIA’s dedication to its gaming units, as the company’s focus appears increasingly to be shifting elsewhere, given its broader revenue streams.

As frustration mounts over these driver snafus, users are calling for more transparency and faster resolutions from NVIDIA. Until then, gamers are left to navigate through driver versions in hopes of a smoother gaming experience.
