Gallipoli Brings WWI Warfare to the Front Lines This August

Gallipoli WW1 Shooter Gets August Release Date for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S

BlackMill Games has confirmed that Gallipoli, its new World War 1 first-person shooter, will launch on August 20 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will be available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Gallipoli takes players to the Ottoman Fronts, offering a new historical battlefield experience built around tactical combat, teamwork, and immersive World War 1 warfare. Alongside the release date announcement, the developer also shared a new trailer showcasing several major gameplay improvements shaped by community feedback.

One of the biggest upgrades in Gallipoli is the improved movement system. Players will now have more control over how they move across the battlefield, making combat feel faster, smoother, and more responsive. Instead of being completely restricted when stamina runs out, soldiers can still sprint at a reduced pace. When stamina is full, players can move even faster for a short burst, making it easier to rush an enemy position, escape danger, or dive into cover.

Movement in trenches has also been expanded. Players can now sprint while crouched or prone, allowing them to stay low while still moving quickly through dangerous areas. This should make trench fighting feel more fluid and give players more options when trying to survive under heavy fire. Bayonet charges and melee attacks also return with added intensity, giving soldiers a burst of speed as they rush enemies in close-quarters combat.

Squad play is another major focus in Gallipoli. The game places a stronger emphasis on coordination, class roles, and teamwork. New teamwork-focused roles such as Stretcher Bearers and Heavy Machine Gunners are designed to give squads more strategic options during battle. Players can also ping locations or markers, making it easier to guide teammates, call attention to objectives, or coordinate attacks.

The type of squad a player joins will influence the available roles and overall strategy. Different squad types provide more slots for specific classes, while Officers gain access to unique off-map support options. This system is intended to encourage more organized play and give every squad a clearer purpose on the battlefield.

Gallipoli is also aiming for a high level of immersion. The developers have focused on detailed environments, realistic audio, and strong visual effects to capture the atmosphere of the Ottoman Fronts. Explosions will throw up sand and dust that lingers before slowly clearing, adding more realism to the battlefield.

These dust clouds are not just visual effects. They can affect gameplay by providing temporary cover, giving players a chance to advance, retreat, or reposition under pressure. This adds another tactical layer to battles, especially during large assaults or desperate defensive moments.

Another key feature is full crossplay support. Players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S will be able to join the same matches and squad up together. This should help keep the player base connected across platforms and make it easier for friends to play together regardless of their system.

With its August 20 launch date now set, Gallipoli is shaping up to be a notable new entry for fans of historical shooters and tactical World War 1 combat. Between improved movement, deeper squad coordination, immersive battlefield effects, and cross-platform multiplayer, the game is designed to deliver a more dynamic and team-focused experience on PC and current-generation consoles.
