A new leak has revealed what could be Samsung’s most ambitious foldable upgrade yet. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is reportedly set to arrive with a noticeably lighter body, a larger battery, faster charging, an improved camera system, and a folding display that may finally address one of the biggest complaints about foldable phones: the visible crease.
According to the leaked details, Samsung’s wider version of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could weigh just 201 grams. That would make it significantly lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which weighs 215 grams, and impressively close to traditional flagship phones. For a large book-style foldable, that kind of weight reduction would be a major step forward, especially for users who have avoided foldables because they feel too bulky in daily use.
The lighter frame does not appear to come at the expense of battery capacity. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is rumored to feature a 4,800 mAh battery, an upgrade over the 4,400 mAh battery found in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. If accurate, this could mean better battery life while still keeping the device thinner and lighter than before.
Charging is also expected to improve, with the leak pointing to 45W wired charging support. While not the fastest charging speed in the smartphone market, it would still be a welcome upgrade for Samsung’s foldable lineup and could make the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide more convenient for power users.
