Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 Leak Reveals New Design, UWB Tracking, and Possible October Launch
Samsung’s next item tracker may be closer than expected. Fresh leaked marketing images appear to show the Galaxy SmartTag 3 in detail, revealing a major design change, upgraded tracking features, and a lineup of optional accessories aimed at keys, bags, pets, and everyday carry.
Unlike the Galaxy SmartTag 2, which used a longer pill-shaped body with a built-in attachment loop, the Galaxy SmartTag 3 appears to adopt a much smaller rounded-square design. The new shape looks more compact and pocket-friendly, with black and white color options shown in the leaked images. The front seems to feature a metal-accented finish, while the back is expected to use a plastic panel.
One of the biggest visible changes is the removal of the built-in keyring loop. Instead, Samsung may sell separate protective cases that add attachment options. Leaked details suggest the company is preparing bumper, silicone, and leather-style cases, along with a carabiner case for easily clipping the tracker to keys, backpacks, luggage, or other personal items.
The Galaxy SmartTag 3 is also expected to support both Bluetooth Low Energy and Ultra-Wideband technology. Bluetooth LE would help with general item tracking over longer everyday ranges, while UWB can provide more accurate close-range location finding when paired with compatible Samsung Galaxy phones. This could make it easier to pinpoint lost items in a room, under furniture, or inside a bag.
Regulatory information reportedly points to a compact body measuring around 30 x 30 mm, with a thickness of less than 10 mm. If accurate, that would make the Galaxy SmartTag 3 noticeably smaller and easier to attach to more items than the previous version.
Samsung also appears to be targeting pet owners with the new tracker. A pet-collar mount is reportedly in development with accessory maker Spigen, which could make the SmartTag 3 a practical option for tracking dogs or cats. Combined with the smaller design, the tracker may be more comfortable for pets than bulkier alternatives.
The Galaxy SmartTag 3 is rumored to launch in early October, although Samsung has not officially confirmed the device, pricing, or availability. Early reports suggest the tracker could cost around $30 for a single unit in the United States and about €28 in Europe. A four-pack may be priced near $100 or €93, making it a more affordable option for users who want to track multiple items.
If the leaks are accurate, the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 could become one of the most useful accessories for Galaxy users in 2026. With a refreshed compact design, UWB precision tracking, and a broader range of cases and mounts, Samsung seems to be preparing a more versatile rival in the smart tracker market.
