Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 Unveiled With Fresh Design, iPhone Support, and Smarter Tracking

Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 Launches With iPhone Support, New Design, and Longer Battery Life

Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy SmartTag 3, its latest Bluetooth tracker designed to help users keep tabs on everyday essentials such as keys, bags, bikes, cars, luggage, and even pets. Arriving nearly three years after the Galaxy SmartTag 2, the new model brings a refreshed design, broader device compatibility, improved tracking tools, and impressive battery life.

One of the biggest changes is the new look. The Galaxy SmartTag 3 is now smaller and lighter than the previous generation, with Samsung reducing its volume by 35% and its weight by 33%. The older bottle-opener-style design has been replaced with a cleaner rounded-square shape, giving the tracker a more compact and modern appearance. It will be available in black and white.

The smaller body should make the SmartTag 3 easier to slip into bags, pockets, wallets, and other tight spaces. However, the redesign also means users will need a case if they want to attach it to key rings, backpacks, pet collars, or other belongings. Samsung plans to offer bumper and silicone cases in several colors, and third-party accessory makers are expected to release additional options.

A major upgrade for the Galaxy SmartTag 3 is support for both Galaxy devices and Apple devices. For the first time, Samsung’s tracker works with iOS, as long as the iPhone is running iOS 17 or newer. This cross-platform compatibility makes the SmartTag 3 much more flexible, especially for households or users who own a mix of Android and Apple products.

Samsung has also added a feature called Compass View, which is designed to guide users toward a tagged item using distance and directional information. The feature works from up to 60 meters away with Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding. For devices that support ultra-wideband, tracking becomes even more precise, making it easier to locate misplaced items nearby.

Compass View is available on Galaxy devices running Android 12 or later, as long as they support ultra-wideband or Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding. Compatible models include newer Samsung flagships such as the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26+, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Another useful addition is Place Notification. This feature allows users to set a specific area and receive an alert when a tagged item enters or leaves that location. It could be especially helpful for monitoring a bicycle, car, suitcase, or pet, giving users more peace of mind when their belongings move unexpectedly.

The SmartTag 3 also includes Left Behind Alert, which notifies users when their phone loses connection with a tagged item. If you walk away from your keys, backpack, or wallet, the tracker can send a reminder before you get too far.

Lost Mode is included as well. When enabled, it can display contact information if someone scans the lost SmartTag 3 with a compatible device. This gives owners a better chance of recovering missing belongings.

Like earlier Samsung trackers, the Galaxy SmartTag 3 can also work with SmartThings routines. Users can press the button on the tracker to trigger preset smart home actions, such as turning lights on or off, controlling connected devices, or starting an automation.

Durability remains a key part of the design. The Galaxy SmartTag 3 comes with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, helping it survive everyday use, rain, splashes, and outdoor conditions.

Battery life is another strong point. Samsung says the SmartTag 3 can last up to 550 days on a standard replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery. In power-saving mode, battery life can stretch up to 790 days, reducing the need for frequent battery replacements.

Samsung has not yet confirmed the official price of the Galaxy SmartTag 3. The tracker will launch first in Korea on October 7, followed by the United States. Wider availability in other regions is planned for 2027. Buyers will be able to purchase it as a single unit or in a four-pack.
