The once-exclusive Chinese GeForce RTX 5090D is now making waves worldwide, but with a hefty price tag. After being discontinued in China due to changes in US export policies, this GPU has found a new market, selling for about twice the cost of the GeForce RTX 5090. Now, it fetches between $5,500 and $6,000 on platforms like eBay, positioning it as one of the priciest GPUs based on the GB202 architecture.
NVIDIA originally halted the RTX 5090D’s distribution in China, prompting a shift as the brand and its partners work on launching the GeForce RTX 5090D V2. Despite this, the original RTX 5090D is attracting attention globally, especially the limited edition GALAX GeForce RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB. Known for their premium appeal, GALAX’s Hall of Fame cards cater to enthusiasts and overclockers who value performance and exclusivity.
The GALAX RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB is technically identical to its counterpart, the RTX 5090, but stands out with its potential for extreme overclocking. Featuring two 16-pin connectors, the card is capable of drawing up to 2000W with the right BIOS tweaks. While this power doesn’t translate to major gains in gaming, it’s a boon for synthetic benchmarks and those pushing the limits with advanced cooling solutions, such as liquid nitrogen.
Interestingly, even as the GeForce RTX 5090 has seen price drops to the $2500-$3000 range, the premium pricing for the RTX 5090D persists. For most users, the standard RTX 5090 offers ample performance for half the cost. Yet, for those chasing the thrill of breaking world records or stepping into the elite circle of GPU enthusiasts, the GALAX RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB remains an alluring choice.
