Casio is tapping into classic cyberpunk energy with a new limited-edition anime collaboration: the G-Shock DW-5600 x Ghost in the Shell. Set for a March release in Japan, the watch has already surfaced on the Ghost in the Shell exhibition website, giving fans an early look before any major official rollout.
Built on the iconic square DW-5600 design, this special edition keeps things clean and wearable while adding just the right amount of futuristic flair. The bezel features electric turquoise text accents that echo the series’ high-tech, neon-soaked aesthetic. The standout detail, however, is a clever hidden feature: activate the LED backlight and a silhouette of Major Motoko Kusanagi appears on the dial, like a “ghost” emerging from the machine.
While full specifications haven’t been widely detailed yet, pricing has been revealed, and it’s surprisingly accessible for a crossover release. In Japan, the watch is listed at ¥15,400 (around $105), positioning it as an easy pickup for collectors and everyday G-Shock wearers alike.
The presentation also leans into collector appeal. The DW-5600 x Ghost in the Shell will ship in special packaging, including a white display box featuring a prominent portrait of The Major alongside the official Ghost in the Shell branding—perfect for fans who want to keep it pristine on a shelf as much as those who plan to wear it.
If you’ll be in Tokyo around March, the Ghost in the Shell exhibition may be one of the best places to spot (and potentially secure) this release. For now, there’s no clear confirmation on whether the watch will launch outside Japan or if availability will remain tied to the exhibition and local retail channels. Fans in other regions may need to wait for further announcements to learn if an international release is planned.
