Funnel Runners Blasts Onto the Scene: A Tornado Survival Game Is Coming

Indie developer Supernova Studios has officially revealed Funnel Runners, a co-op survival adventure game that turns extreme weather into your biggest threat. Instead of fighting monsters or outgunning enemies, you’ll be racing against nature itself as powerful tornados tear through a city, ripping buildings apart and forcing quick decisions if you want to make it out alive.

Funnel Runners is currently in development for Windows PC and is planned to launch sometime this spring. The premise drops you into your first real field deployment with APEX Storm Monitoring Services, where an urgent, high-priority F5 tornado is closing in. Your job is simple on paper but brutal in practice: collect storm data, scavenge critical information and supplies, and survive long enough to escape.

One of the game’s most attention-grabbing elements is its dynamic, evolving storm system. Tornados and severe storms can spawn randomly, intensify over time, and steadily dismantle the map. Structures don’t just “break” in a scripted way—they collapse piece by piece, changing routes and removing access to areas you might have planned to loot. If a location gets destroyed, items won’t be waiting there anymore, meaning hesitation can cost you essential gear. And if you get caught in the wind, you might not be coming back.

The experience is built from a first-person perspective, aiming for a more immersive take on survival. You can play solo or team up with up to seven friends, coordinating who searches where, sharing gadgets, and dividing tasks to cover more ground before conditions worsen. The focus is on tension and atmosphere, making every siren in the distance, every sudden gust, and every chunk of debris feel like a real warning that the storm is closing in.

Scavenging plays a major role in staying alive. You’ll be searching the collapsing city for vehicle parts, fuel, and tools needed to repair your van. Keeping that vehicle running isn’t just a side objective—it’s your way out. Each run is designed to feel different thanks to randomized environments, weather patterns, items, and vehicle-related problems that change what you need and how you’ll need to get it. The goal is replayability, with no two playthroughs unfolding the same way.

With co-op teamwork, a destructive weather system, and a constant push to gather supplies and escape before everything falls apart, Funnel Runners is shaping up to be a standout survival game for players who want something different from the usual genre formula.
