Frosthaven 1.0 launches on PC with the complete campaign, 17 heroes, and co-op adventure
Frosthaven has officially left Early Access and is now available in its full 1.0 version on PC. The dark fantasy tactical RPG, developed by Snapshot Games and published by Arc Games, launches on October 15, 2026, with availability rolling into October 16 in some regions depending on time zone.
Based on Isaac Childres’ celebrated board game, Frosthaven brings the strategic depth, branching progression, and challenging combat of the tabletop experience to a digital format. It also serves as a spiritual successor to Gloomhaven, but players do not need any prior experience with that game to begin their journey.
The full launch marks the end of Frosthaven’s year-long Early Access period, which began on July 31, 2025. At that time, players had access to around one-third of the planned content, including eight playable characters and more than 35 quests across the opening acts. With version 1.0, the entire campaign is now playable, including the final chapter from the board game.
One of the biggest additions in Frosthaven 1.0 is the complete roster of 17 playable heroes. Players begin with six starting classes: Banner Spear, Boneshaper, Drifter, Geminate, Blinkblade, and Deathwalker. Additional characters unlock as the campaign progresses, giving players more tactical options and encouraging experimentation with different party builds.
The launch version also introduces the final hero, completing the character lineup for the first time in the digital edition. For fans of tactical RPGs, this means more team combinations, more synergies, and more ways to approach Frosthaven’s punishing battles.
Frosthaven is designed around tactical decision-making rather than simple turn-based combat. Every action matters, and players must think carefully about positioning, timing, card usage, and party composition. The game blends dungeon-crawling with settlement development, story choices, and long-term progression, making it especially appealing to fans of deep strategy games and cooperative RPGs.
Version 1.0 also includes several highly requested house rules. These additions give players more flexibility in how they experience the campaign, making the digital version more accommodating for different playstyles while still preserving the spirit of the original board game.
Another major feature in the full release is the completed in-game Codex. This serves as a central archive for Frosthaven’s world, collecting information on lore, characters, creatures, and biomes. For players who enjoy world-building and story details, the Codex offers a richer look at the frozen frontier and the dangers hidden within it.
New players are also getting more support at launch. Frosthaven now includes a digital-only introduction called Road to Frosthaven, designed to help ease players into the game’s complex systems. A dedicated tutorial and improved interface elements are also included, helping make the experience more approachable without reducing its strategic depth.
A standalone demo based on the Road to Frosthaven introduction has also been announced. This gives curious players a chance to try the game before committing to the full campaign.
Frosthaven supports online co-op for two to four players, making it a strong choice for groups looking for a long-form tactical RPG campaign. The 1.0 update brings improved multiplayer systems and networking enhancements, aiming to deliver a smoother cooperative experience.
For existing Early Access owners, the transition to version 1.0 is simple. Anyone who already purchased Frosthaven during Early Access does not need to buy it again. The full release arrives as an update to the existing game.
Frosthaven is priced at $39.99 on PC. Alongside the full release, two new bundles are available. The Frosthaven Complete Edition Bundle includes the base game together with the soundtrack, while the Frosthaven × Sunderfolk Bundle pairs Frosthaven with the cooperative fantasy adventure Sunderfolk.
With its complete campaign, full hero roster, improved onboarding, online co-op, and expanded lore features, Frosthaven 1.0 is a major milestone for the digital adaptation. Whether you are a longtime fan of the board game or a newcomer looking for a challenging tactical RPG, the full release offers a deep and replayable fantasy adventure built around strategy, teamwork, and tough choices.
