FRESCO Unveiled: A Thrilling Egyptian Art-Inspired Action-Adventure Awaits

Indie developer Kelonia Games has officially revealed FRESCO, an action-adventure game inspired by ancient Egyptian art where temple frescoes don’t just decorate the walls—they wake up, move, and become part of the journey.

Currently in development for Windows PC and planned for release on Steam, FRESCO doesn’t have a release date yet. The team says the project is still evolving as development continues, signaling that more details, features, and refinements are likely on the way.

The core hook is its unusual dual-world gameplay. In FRESCO, you’ll switch between two interconnected characters to push forward. One is an archaeologist exploring an ancient Egyptian temple in a fully 3D environment. The other exists inside the painted carvings themselves—a living character navigating the temple’s wall art in a stylized 2D world. Progress depends on learning when and how to swap between them, advancing both stories and unlocking new paths through their combined actions.

That back-and-forth design also shapes the game’s puzzle solving. Challenges will span both 2D and 3D spaces, asking you to observe what’s happening in each world and manipulate the surrounding environment to overcome obstacles. What might look like a simple carving could become a platforming route, a hidden clue, or a mechanism that changes what the archaeologist can access on the other side of the wall.

Kelonia Games is also leaning into the setting, promising ancient Egyptian environments to explore, along with threats rooted in mythology. As you move deeper into the temple, you’ll face gods and imposing guardians determined to block your path—adding combat and tension to the exploration and puzzle-focused structure.

With its blend of ancient Egypt, living fresco art, and character switching between 3D exploration and 2D mural traversal, FRESCO is shaping up to be a distinctive action-adventure to watch for PC players who want something visually different and mechanically creative.
