Foxconn Secures New Site to Accelerate Optical Communications Growth

Foxconn Expands in New Taipei City With NT$1 Billion Industrial Property Purchase

Foxconn is moving forward with another strategic investment in Taiwan, approving the purchase of an industrial property in Tucheng District, New Taipei City, for NT$1 billion, equivalent to about US$31.08 million.

The company said the newly acquired site will be used to support future planning in several high-value manufacturing areas, including optical communications, ultra-precision molds, and precision molding. These fields are increasingly important as demand grows for advanced components used in next-generation electronics, networking equipment, data infrastructure, and high-precision manufacturing.

The investment highlights Foxconn’s continued focus on strengthening its technology manufacturing capabilities beyond traditional electronics assembly. Optical communications, in particular, has become a key area for global manufacturers as data centers, artificial intelligence systems, cloud services, and high-speed networks require faster and more efficient transmission technologies.

By securing additional industrial land in Tucheng, Foxconn is positioning itself to expand capacity and improve long-term operational flexibility. The district is already known as an important industrial and technology hub in northern Taiwan, offering access to skilled labor, established supply chains, and transportation links that support advanced manufacturing operations.

Foxconn’s move also reflects the broader shift in the electronics industry toward precision-driven production. Ultra-precision molds and precision molding are essential for producing complex components with tight tolerances, which are used across smartphones, servers, automotive electronics, medical devices, and communication hardware.

While the company has not disclosed a detailed timeline for development at the site, the purchase signals confidence in future demand for optical communication technologies and advanced manufacturing solutions. With this NT$1 billion property acquisition, Foxconn is laying the groundwork for the next stage of its industrial expansion in Taiwan.
