Forza games usually land in the fall, but new chatter suggests Forza Horizon 6 could break tradition with a spring launch. A pop-up image reportedly spotted inside Forza Horizon 5 has sparked fresh release date speculation, pointing to a mid-May arrival for Playground Games’ next open-world racing adventure.
All eyes are now on the Xbox Developer Direct scheduled for January 22, where fans expect updates on Forza Horizon 6 along with other major Xbox projects. If the leaked in-game pop-up is accurate, Forza Horizon 6 could offer four-day early access starting May 15, with the standard release following on May 19. While nothing is official until Microsoft confirms it, the timing would be a notable shift for the franchise and could set up a huge early-summer racing season.
The same leak also teases early details about pre-order bonuses and the launch-day garage. Players who pre-order may receive the Ferrari J50 as a bonus car, and the game is said to include more than 550 additional vehicles at release. That number lines up with what players saw at the start of Forza Horizon 5, which later grew significantly through downloadable content and expansions. If Forza Horizon 6 follows a similar path, the initial lineup could be only the beginning of a much larger car collection over time.
Expect a strong mix of Japanese cars as well, especially given the game’s rumored setting. Interestingly, pre-purchase information mentioned an “Italian Passion Car Pack” planned for the future, suggesting themed car drops will continue to be part of the long-term roadmap. Premium Edition buyers are also expected to receive access to two upcoming expansions, which typically means additional areas, races, challenges, and more vehicles.
As for the map, Playground Games is said to be taking players to “breathtaking landscapes of Japan.” Rather than recreating the entire country at full scale, the approach appears to focus on authentic, recognizable locations. The environments are expected to range from Tokyo city streets to rural roads, with major landmarks like Mount Fuji represented in a realistic way. If these details hold true, Forza Horizon 6 could deliver one of the most visually diverse settings in the series—mixing dense urban racing with scenic countryside cruising.
Platform plans are also part of the conversation. Forza Horizon 6 is expected to launch as a PC and Xbox exclusive at first, meaning PlayStation players may need to wait. Even though the previous game eventually found success beyond Xbox platforms, any PS5 release date talk would likely come later, after the initial launch window is established.
