Former Meta Engineers Launch AI Travel Planner for Seamless Trip Planning

The travel industry has long been a treasure trove of data, and now innovative founders are transforming this wealth into groundbreaking AI travel startups. The race is on among both new players and established travel tech companies to create the ultimate comprehensive tool that handles every aspect of trip planning and management.

Enter Airial, a standout contender aiming to revolutionize your travel experience with seamless, end-to-end planning. At its core, Airial lets you input details of your desired trip, and the AI crafts a detailed itinerary, from start to finish.

With an instant trip feature, users can quickly generate a comprehensive travel plan including flights, hotels, and intercity transport. The platform even goes the extra mile by offering a daily itinerary filled with must-visit attractions and dining options. Users can tailor their preferences during the planning stage or make adjustments later.

The interface provides a clear overview of your entire trip, with clickable segments that reveal daily schedules and AI-recommended activities. Each item includes an overview, reviews, location details, and alternatives. Plus, an AI assistant is readily available to answer questions about any particular site.

One of Airial’s standout features is its map overlay, showing the day’s destinations and the distances between them. It includes specifics like transfer times and waiting periods, and even suggests potential day trips to nearby locations.

Enhancing the experience, users can integrate links to blogs or social media content into their plans. Airial also surfaces videos and content related to your destination, letting you draw inspiration from creators without needing to do extensive searches.

Founded by college friends Archit Karandikar and Sanjeev Shenoy from India, Airial combines their expertise in AI and engineering. Karandikar’s background includes roles at Meta, Google, and Waymo, while Shenoy contributed to the development of Instagram Reels at Meta.

Driven by a shared passion for travel, the founders wanted to create a tool akin to having a personal travel agent. They emphasize detailed logistics management, integrating numerous APIs to consider myriad parameters like connectivity and activity proximity.

Personalization is key, as highlighted by Karandikar. For instance, if you’re vegetarian, the AI ensures all restaurant suggestions cater to your dietary preference.

Airial’s AI models are inspired by a DeepMind research paper, AlphaGeometry, which focuses on solving geometry problems. By combining this with advanced language models, Airial constructs intelligent travel plans tailored to user needs.

With $3 million in seed funding from leading investors, including Montage Ventures and South Park Commons, Airial is poised for growth. Daphne Che of Montage Ventures praises the team’s technical prowess, which enables them to effectively manage complex travel variables.

Currently attracting tens of thousands of monthly visitors, Airial is prioritizing user growth. New features like trip sharing and collaborative planning have been introduced, as well as additional transit options like cars and buses. A social element allows users to view and adjust friends’ trips.

Looking ahead, Airial plans to develop apps for iOS and Android, and aims to enhance search capabilities for finding hotels, activities, and influencer content, focusing on a seamless and enriching travel planning experience.
