Fenix Launches the $30 E04R: A Clip-On Flashlight with a Rotating Twist

Fenix has officially launched the Fenix E04R, a compact clip-on flashlight designed for hands-free everyday carry and flexible positioning. After being previewed at IWA in Nuremberg, the new model is now fully unveiled, bringing a rotating head design, multiple brightness levels, and built-in USB-C charging to a pocket-friendly form factor.

The standout feature on the Fenix E04R is its rotating mount: the light head can rotate a full 360 degrees while attached to the clip. That makes it easy to aim light exactly where you need it whether it’s clipped to a jacket pocket, a belt, or a backpack strap. Fenix also notes the beam is angled at 40 degrees, which helps direct illumination forward when the flashlight is worn on clothing or gear instead of held in hand.

For output, the main light uses two LEDs and reaches up to 300 lumens with a claimed beam distance of up to 151 feet. In this high mode, Fenix rates runtime at up to 1 hour and 40 minutes, though the company also points out that temperature regulation is in play—meaning the brightness can step down if the unit heats up. For users who need steadier output, the flashlight is rated for 100 lumens in continuous operation, reaching up to 92 feet with a runtime of about 2 hours and 40 minutes. Lower settings extend runtime further, including 25 lumens for up to 11 hours and 40 minutes, plus a 1-lumen moonlight mode that can run as long as 87 hours.

In addition to white light, the main LEDs can switch to red light—useful for preserving night vision or keeping a lower profile. Red light output tops out at 12 lumens with a runtime of up to 6 hours and 40 minutes, while the red low mode delivers 5 lumens for up to 19 hours and 30 minutes.

The Fenix E04R also includes a separate side light intended primarily for visibility and signaling rather than lighting up a path. This side light uses RGB LEDs arranged in a ring, offering standard flashing as well as a rotating-style effect for added attention-grabbing capability.

Power comes from a built-in rechargeable battery that charges via USB-C, making it easy to top up with modern cables and chargers. For durability, the E04R is rated IP66 for dust resistance and strong water protection, and it’s designed to withstand drops from up to 3.3 feet.

Pricing is set at $30 through the manufacturer’s official US store, with two color options: white and black. Availability through additional retailers is expected to follow after a short delay.
