In the realm of regular updates, Samsung’s track record remains impressive with the latest rollout of the February 2024 security update. Initially dispatched for Galaxy Z Fold 3 variants, the update has made its way to the factory-unlocked versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 across the United States.
Enhanced Security for Samsung’s Flagship Foldables
Owners of the factory-unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the US can now access the update identified by firmware version F926U1TBS5HXAF. It’s currently being distributed on the Comcast and Tracfone networks. Meanwhile, the equivalent update for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 carries the firmware version F936U1UES4EXAD and is available to users on the Metro PCS and T-Mobile networks. It is anticipated that other carriers will follow suit and begin their rollouts in the coming days.
The February 2024 update is solely focused on enhancing security, boasting a modest download size and aiming to rectify a total of 72 security concerns identified in the previous versions of the software.
For those with an unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Z Fold 4 in the US, checking for the new update is simple: go to the Settings app, select Software update, and tap on Download and install.
Introducing the Galaxy Z Fold lineup back in mid-2021, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 originally launched with Android 11. It has since received updates to Android 12 and recently to Android 14 in late 2023. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, released in mid-2022 with Android 12L, also received the Android 14 upgrade around the same time in late 2023.
