Fairphone Fairbuds 2 Launch With Replaceable Battery, Sony LDAC, and Sustainable Design
Fairphone has introduced the Fairbuds 2, a new pair of true wireless earbuds designed for listeners who want strong audio features without giving up repairability and sustainability. The earbuds stand out in a crowded market by offering a replaceable battery, support for Sony LDAC, Bluetooth Multipoint, and a durable build that is easier to maintain over time.
One of the biggest highlights of the Fairbuds 2 is their repair-focused design. Unlike many wireless earbuds that are difficult or impossible to fix once the battery wears out, Fairphone has built these earbuds with long-term use in mind. The replaceable battery helps extend the product’s lifespan, reducing the need to buy a new pair when battery performance declines.
The Fairbuds 2 also support Sony LDAC, a high-quality Bluetooth audio codec designed to deliver improved wireless sound when used with compatible devices. This makes the earbuds more appealing for users who care about audio quality while still wanting a more sustainable alternative to typical wireless earbuds.
Another useful feature is Bluetooth Multipoint. With this technology, the Fairbuds 2 can be paired with up to six devices at the same time. This is especially convenient for users who frequently switch between a smartphone, laptop, tablet, or other Bluetooth-enabled devices throughout the day.
Despite their repairable construction, the Fairbuds 2 still offer everyday durability. They come with an IP54 rating, meaning they are protected against dust and water splashes. This makes them suitable for commutes, workouts, and daily use, although they are not designed for full water immersion.
Sustainability remains a major focus for Fairphone. According to the company, 49 percent of the materials used in the Fairbuds 2 come from recycled sources. The earbuds are also produced under fair working conditions, reflecting Fairphone’s broader commitment to more ethical consumer electronics.
The company is also making the Fairbuds 2 e-waste-neutral through a recycling program. This approach is intended to offset electronic waste by supporting the proper recycling of old devices and materials.
The Fairbuds 2 will be available in the United States starting November 2 for $119. They are already on sale in the United Kingdom for £99 and in Europe for €119 through Fairphone’s official online store.
With replaceable parts, recycled materials, Sony LDAC support, Bluetooth Multipoint, and splash resistance, the Fairbuds 2 offer a practical option for buyers looking for wireless earbuds that combine modern features with a more responsible approach to design.
