Fairphone 6 Plus launches with faster performance, upgraded camera, and official US availability
Fairphone has introduced the Fairphone 6 Plus, also known as the Fairphone Gen. 6+, bringing meaningful upgrades to its repairable and sustainable smartphone lineup. Arriving a little over a year after the Fairphone 6, the new model keeps the brand’s modular design philosophy while improving performance, memory, and camera hardware.
One of the biggest highlights is that the Fairphone 6 Plus is the first Fairphone smartphone to be officially sold in the United States. That makes it a major step for the Amsterdam-based company as it expands beyond its usual European market.
The Fairphone 6 Plus features a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a sharp 2484 × 1116 resolution. It supports HDR10, reaches up to 1400 nits of peak brightness, and includes practical features such as wet-finger touch support and glove mode. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, giving it added durability for everyday use.
While the display remains similar to the Fairphone 6, performance is where the new model starts to stand out. The Fairphone 6 Plus is powered by the newer Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and comes with 12GB of RAM. That is 4GB more memory than the previous model, helping the phone handle multitasking, app switching, and heavier workloads more smoothly.
According to Fairphone, the upgraded chipset and extra RAM deliver up to 24% faster app loading and switching speeds. For users who keep many apps open, jump between tasks, or want a phone that feels responsive for years, this is one of the most important improvements.
Storage remains simple: the Fairphone 6 Plus is available with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. However, unlike many modern smartphones, it still includes a microSD card slot. Users can add up to 2TB of extra storage, which is a big advantage for people who save lots of photos, videos, music, or offline files.
The camera system has also received attention. On the front, the Fairphone 6 Plus includes a 32MP selfie camera with electronic image stabilization. On the back, it features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main camera with optical image stabilization and an f/1.88 aperture. This is paired with a 13MP ultrawide camera offering a 120-degree field of view and electronic image stabilization.
Other key specifications remain familiar. The phone includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support with one nano-SIM and one eSIM, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, stereo speakers, and IP55 dust and water resistance. It also has a removable 4,415mAh battery with 30W wired fast charging.
The Fairphone 6 Plus ships with Android 16 and is promised six major Android updates, making it a strong option for buyers who want long-term software support. Fairphone is also adding new software features, including a Fairphone Gallery app and an updated Fairphone Moments experience. The refreshed Moments feature includes new wallpapers, a blue filter mode, additional Switch button functions, and more.
Fairphone says these new software features will also come to the Fairphone 6, which is good news for existing owners.
As expected from the brand, repairability remains a major selling point. The Fairphone 6 Plus keeps the same sustainable and modular approach as its predecessor, allowing users to replace up to 12 parts themselves. That includes the removable battery, helping extend the phone’s lifespan and reduce electronic waste.
The phone also retains a 5-year warranty, reinforcing Fairphone’s focus on durability and long-term ownership.
The Fairphone 6 Plus is available now for €649, which is €50 more than the Fairphone 6. A version running /e/OS is priced at €699. In the United States, the phone is available for $649.99 through Fairphone’s official US sales channel.
Color options include Horizon Black, Forest Green, and a new Cobalt Blue finish. The previous Cloud White option has been replaced by the Cobalt Blue version, which also extends to accessories such as the protective cover, card holder, and finger loop.
With upgraded performance, more RAM, improved cameras, long software support, and official US availability, the Fairphone 6 Plus is shaping up to be one of the most appealing sustainable smartphones for users who want a device that is built to last.
