EXSTETRA Remaster Sets July Worldwide Release Window

EXSTETRA HD Remaster Gets Worldwide PC Release Date, Console Versions Also in Development

FuRyu has officially confirmed the release date for EXSTETRA HD Remaster, bringing the 2013 fantasy RPG from Studio Saizensen to a global audience for the first time. The remastered version is set to launch worldwide for Windows PC via Steam on July 30.

This marks a major milestone for EXSTETRA, as the original release never made its way overseas. With updated HD presentation and a wider release plan, longtime RPG fans and newcomers will finally have a chance to experience one of FuRyu’s more unusual fantasy adventures.

Alongside the PC release announcement, FuRyu also confirmed that versions for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 are currently in development. While specific release dates for the console versions have not yet been announced, they are expected to follow the same worldwide release approach.

EXSTETRA is a fantasy role-playing game built around a unique and memorable premise: a kiss has the power to save the world. The story takes place in Amazea, a mysterious version of Tokyo that has fused with another world and now stands on the edge of destruction.

Players follow Ryoma, a high school student who suddenly becomes the chosen savior known as a Prisma. With two worlds facing annihilation, Ryoma must rise to his destiny and gather allies known as Prisma Knights. These companions share his mission to stop the coming disaster, but awakening their true power requires an unusual method: a kiss.

The game’s setting blends familiar urban locations with fantasy elements, creating a transformed version of Tokyo where areas inspired by places like Shibuya and Akihabara have been reshaped by the influence of another world. This ruined yet beautiful environment gives EXSTETRA a distinct visual identity, enhanced in the remaster with HD upgrades.

At the heart of the adventure is the bond between Ryoma and the Prisma Knights. As the Prisma, Ryoma can absorb a special energy called EXS by defeating enemies in battle. EXS is the source of power in this world, and Ryoma can share it with his companions through a kiss. This mechanic is central to both the story and the combat system, tying character relationships directly into the fight to save Amazea.

Combat in EXSTETRA focuses on teamwork, character growth, and strategic preparation. Players will battle alongside the Prisma Knights while making use of EXS energy to unlock their potential. The kiss mechanic is not just a story device, but a key part of awakening allies and strengthening the party.

The remaster also includes the Enchant system, which allows players to add abilities and special effects to equipment. By collecting materials and carefully customizing gear, players can improve their chances in battle and build an effective strategy against increasingly dangerous enemies. Managing equipment and choosing the right enhancements will be an important part of progressing through the game.

With its unusual concept, fantasy-meets-modern-Tokyo setting, and character-driven RPG mechanics, EXSTETRA HD Remaster is shaping up to be a notable release for fans of Japanese role-playing games. The worldwide PC launch on July 30 will finally give players outside Japan access to a title that has remained unavailable internationally for more than a decade.

EXSTETRA HD Remaster is currently scheduled for Windows PC on July 30, with Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 versions now in development.
