Tesla’s Cybertruck has been the subject of widespread discussion not only for its futuristic design but also for its robust build quality. One feature that continuously garners attention is the Cybertruck’s Armor Glass windows, which are designed to offer exceptional durability.
The electric pickup’s Armor Glass has been demonstrated to withstand high-impact incidents, such as a baseball flying at 70 MPH. Beyond its impact resistance, the Armor Glass also provides superior noise isolation, which Tesla describes as being on par with “outer space” levels.
During the development of the Cybertruck, Tesla engineers were faced with the challenge of incorporating the increased weight resulting from Elon Musk’s decision to use stainless steel for the body and armored glass for the windows. Despite this, the Cybertruck’s “bulletproof” exterior and shatter-resistant windows have shown their worth, providing a robust defense against attempts to break them. This resilience extends not only to staged tests but also to real-world scenarios like attempted burglaries.
Incidents captured by the Cybertruck’s side HW4 camera reveal that the Armor Glass can effectively deter break-ins. One such incident involved a thief who was unable to cut or shatter the windows, despite even jumping on the vehicle’s roof in an attempt to gain entry. While doing so, the thief eventually gave up and drove away in frustration.
Another testament to the Cybertruck’s sturdy construction was an incident involving a collision with a RAM pickup truck. Despite being rear-ended by the heavy gas-powered vehicle, the electric truck sustained only minor damage, with its tailgate bearing the imprint of the RAM’s grill but remaining functional. In contrast, the front end of the gas-powered truck sustained significant damage, highlighting the effectiveness of the Cybertruck’s design in mitigating the impact.
The occupants of the Tesla Cybertruck reported that they barely felt the collision, which speaks volumes about the vehicle’s capacity to absorb shocks. However, any necessary replacement parts might pose an inconvenience for the owners, especially given the relative newness of their vehicle.
In light of these events, it’s clear that the Cybertruck has been designed to withstand both deliberate attempts at break-ins and accidental impacts, reinforcing Tesla’s commitment to building resilient, high-performance electric vehicles. As the Cybertruck continues to make its way onto roads, its Armor Glass and stainless steel body are sure to be points of interest for potential buyers looking for durability and security in their electric trucks.
