The EM1 device, primarily designed for emulating older games rather than playing current high-end titles, stands in contrast to the more powerful EM2. The EM2 is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 8600G processor and a Radeon 760M integrated GPU, capable of handling numerous modern games at 1080p resolution, particularly when set to low graphics settings and utilizing AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) set to balanced mode.
Furthermore, the EM2’s capabilities can be significantly enhanced with an external docking station that incorporates an AMD Radeon RX 7600 GPU. This external GPU, which is currently priced at $249.99 on Amazon, can transform the EM2 into a machine capable of 4K gaming to a considerable extent.
As of now, the EM1 and EM2 devices are priced at $331 and $675 respectively in the US market. Reports indicate that shipments are projected to commence on Christmas Eve 2024. However, as with many crowdfunding projects, there can be potential delays, so this shipment timeline may change. Additionally, the external docking station is expected to be available in early 2025, contingent upon the successful funding of EmuDeck’s campaign goal of $69,680. More detailed hardware and performance data can be found on EmuDeck’s campaign page.
