Apple is set to release its Apple Intelligence AI features in October, but availability will vary by region. As of the iOS 18.1 beta 3 update, users outside of the US can access these features with some adjustments, though users in China and the EU are still excluded. To use these features, users must change their keyboard and Siri language to US English.
Initially announced in June, Apple Intelligence features appeared in iOS 18 beta versions for the iPhone 15 Pro and any iPad or Mac with an M1 SoC or newer. However, the rollout faced issues due to region-locking, requiring beta testers outside the US to use a US Apple ID and switch their region and language settings to US English.
According to a report, the latest iOS 18.1 beta 3 update has lifted these region locks for most of the world, though China and the EU remain exceptions. Previous reports suggested that Apple Intelligence might not launch in the EU at all this year due to challenges related to the Digital Markets Act, which has complicated Apple’s strategy and could result in a significant fine for the company.
While the features are now accessible to users outside the US, many will still need to set their device language to English US to ensure full functionality. The Apple Intelligence suite includes features like an AI-powered Siri assistant, writing tools, an AI image editor, and an image generation tool with API support for various app integrations.
The features are scheduled to launch in October as part of an update to iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia.
