Apple has just unveiled the sixth developer beta of iOS 26, bringing fresh updates to iPads, Apple Watches, Apple TVs, and Macs. As we edge closer to its anticipated September release, while the updates may seem subtle, they pack some intriguing surprises.
A headline feature includes six new ringtones based on the “reflection” theme. Among these, the “Dreamer” ringtone is already creating buzz on social media, with early users praising its catchy tune. This new addition might even tempt some to switch off silent mode for a change.
The Camera app controversy has been another focal point. Apple faced backlash when it altered the swipe gesture direction, clashing with established muscle memory. Initially, a “Classic Mode” toggle was introduced to appease users. However, in the latest beta, Apple has reverted the swipe direction back to its original state, reflecting their penchant for listening to user feedback.
Other enhancements in beta 6 feature more responsive app transitions and unique animations inspired by iPadOS’s “magic lamp” effect. These changes make interactions smoother and visually captivating.
The Liquid Glass interface continues to evolve, boosting readability and adding more “glassiness” to enhance the user experience. The Lock Screen and toggles now incorporate these effects, enhancing visual appeal.
Post-update, users will encounter a revamped onboarding experience, showcasing Liquid Glass and other iOS 26 features like dark and clear icons. While bug fixes are part of the package, some new ones may surface as development progresses. On the upside, this release is reported to be more stable and faster, signaling a nearing public launch.
With the developer beta out, public beta testers should anticipate an update soon, inching us closer to the final release.
