The highly anticipated MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is set to make its grand debut on October 9, just days ahead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 launch. This powerful chipset will first appear with the Vivo X200 series and is expected to be a staple in high-end smartphones throughout 2024 and 2025.
MediaTek has officially announced that it will unveil the Dimensity 9400 on October 9 at 10:30 AM local time, a date previously hinted at by sources on Weibo and confirmed by a MediaTek executive. A teaser released by MediaTek showcases some of the chip’s impressive features, many of which have been subjects of leaks and rumors.
The Dimensity 9400 retains its predecessor’s 8-core CPU design, featuring one prime Cortex-X925 CPU core. While the details of the supporting cores aren’t fully disclosed, it’s likely they will include a mix of Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 cores. Although the chip doesn’t quite match Qualcomm and Apple’s raw clock speeds, its strength lies in other areas.
One standout feature of the Dimensity 9400 is its Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU, which has proven to outperform the Apple M4 in benchmark tests—a remarkable achievement for a smartphone’s System on Chip (SoC). Additional highlights include support for 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X memory from Samsung and a new Neural Processing Unit (NPU), which promises to enhance AI capabilities significantly.
Catch the full unveiling of the Dimensity 9400 as it pairs up with the Vivo X200 series in what promises to be an exciting showcase on October 14. This launch is sure to create a buzz in the tech community, setting the stage for the next generation of high-performance smartphones.
