Dell has just unveiled an enticing upgrade to its flagship XPS 13 series, spotlighting the XPS 13 (XPS 9350) model, now powered by Intel’s latest Lunar Lake CPUs. This revamped laptop packs a punch with notable hardware improvements that cater to both power users and everyday consumers.
Previously, Dell’s XPS 13 lineup sported Snapdragon X Elite CPUs, which delivered robust performance but failed to capture the expected market traction. The transition to Intel’s Lunar Lake chips promises to remedy this by enhancing app compatibility, a known Achilles’ heel for Qualcomm’s processors.
The new XPS 13 boasts a range of Lunar Lake CPU options, from the high-end Core Ultra 9 288V to the versatile Core Ultra 5 226V, each tailored to provide a seamless user experience. Configurations with CPUs ending in ‘8’ come with 32 GB of RAM, while those ending in ‘6’ offer 16 GB of RAM. Storage options have also been expanded, with the possibility of up to a 2 TB NVMe SSD at launch and a 4 TB version expected later this year.
The display technology of the XPS 13 sees significant upgrades, ensuring vibrant and immersive visuals. You can choose from three configurations for the 13.4-inch screen:
1. An FHD+ (1920 x 1200) IPS LCD panel boasting a 120 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness, and 100% sRGB coverage.
2. A QHD+ (2560 x 1600) IPS LCD with a similar 120 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness, and full 100% DCI-P3 coverage for more precise color reproduction.
3. An OLED variant with QHD+ (2560 x 1660) resolution offering 60 Hz refresh rate, 400 nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, VESA DisplayHDR 500 support, and robust Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
Graphically, the XPS 13 is equipped to impress, featuring the Intel Arc 140V GPU for the higher-end Core Ultra 7 and Ultra 9 models and the Arc 130V for the Core Ultra 5 variant. Complementing this, the laptop includes two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports for fast data transfer and connectivity.
Other notable features include a 1080p webcam with Windows Hello support, a 55 Wh battery with 55W fast charging, quad speakers (2 Watt x 4), and the latest connectivity options with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3.
For those looking to get their hands on this powerhouse, the new Dell XPS 13 starts at a base price of $1,400. This update signifies Dell’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of laptop innovation, making it a compelling choice for consumers seeking top-tier performance and cutting-edge technology.
